Your-Nova-Scotia-Travel-Tips, Issue #027 - The BEST Nova Scotia Travel Tips
September 01, 2022
Issue #027, August 2022

hi folks,

Welcome to Your Nova Scotia Travel Tips.

Summer 2022 is coming to a close but there is still lots to see and do this fall! Fall is a fabulous season in Nova Scotia so start to make your plans.

This issue's feature is the Celtic Colours International Music Festival: Oct 7 - 15 on Cape Breton Island.

Celtic Colours Oct 7 - 15

This fantastic event is spread across dozens of communities on Cape Breton Island. There are 48 concerts and over 200 community events. This is the highly anticipated return of an ‘in-person’ festival since the start of the pandemic.

Concerts will be held in big and small venues, local churches, community halls, school gyms, fire halls, arts & culture centres, and legions. There will also be concerts the Fortress of Louisbourg, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, the Highland Village and the Gaelic College.

To be truthful I like the smaller venues the best. Small and intimate! Check for events at the Big Pond Community Centre, the Boisdale Firehall, Calvin United Church, East Bay Legion, and West Mabou Hall.

You can see the venues and communities page for the festival here. The map of Cape Breton is very user friendly and very helpful.

You’ll hear artists from Cape Breton, from across Canada and from Ireland, Scotland, the UK and the United States. International artists and local artists. They all come together to perform for you. Check out the Celtic Colours Artists list.

I have a series of Celtic Colours pages on my website featuring concerts and artists that I have seen over the years. They should give you a good taste of Celtic Colours. The great thing about this festival is that it is spread over 8 days in many different communities. This allows you to pick what you want to see even if you only have a limited amount of time.

I also have a couple of festival videos on my YouTube Channel for Your Nova Scotia Holiday that you might enjoy. The JAM sessions at the Gaelic College are fantastic!

Many communities have community meals before a concert in the area. This is extra-special as many of the meals are prepared by members of the community. These are all listed on the Celtic Colours website on the schedule page. Use the filter options on the side of the page to select 'meals'. You can also filter by date and region.

You can purchase tickets on-line at Celtic Colours Tickets. But they are going fast so don’t delay if you have decided to attend some concerts. There are also FREE events. Check your festival booklet that you will get at your first concert.

One last piece of advice….check my '15 TIPS' page for some inside information about the festival. They might be useful.

Find accommodations on Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor says that Nova Scotia is one of Canada's top destinations. I didn't need Trip Advisor to tell me this!! LOL!

Seriously, Trip Advisor is a great tool when planning a trip. I use it all the time and try to write reviews when I can.

Use this link Nova Scotia accommodations on Trip Advisor for your search and to make your accommodations booking. I earn a small commission with each reservation made via my site and this helps pay my expenses.

I would really appreciate it!! Cheers!!
